EditorNovember 10th, 2009 at 6:27 am

Suleman, now I work mostly on things related to calculations because I think this kind of video is the most effective for visitor to take something home. I will try to do an ethics and see the response. And what kind of format you have in mind?

SulemanNovember 11th, 2009 at 11:17 am

k thanx. format wld be like questions with examples and how to analyze them since i heard the cfa people focus more on ethics section and sb tym ur grade depends on it and ppl take it lightly.

Hi

I like your style and approach in explaining concept in the videos. It makes things really simple to understand.

I am struggling a bit on the accounting treatment of leases as they are not well written in the books. Are you able to spare some time to do video with regards to the accounting treatment or the various leases? i.e. from both lessor’s and lessee’s POV.

Thanks.

EditorNovember 15th, 2009 at 7:42 am

Ok, Suleman and Collin, I will put your suggestions in the queue. Will do it in the coming two weeks’ videos. Good luck to your exam!

I am still struggling a bit with swaps, options, futures. I really enjoy your video explanations, it made it much simpler, especially swaps and the options. What i would like is some practice questions on these topics and the solutions to follow so i can practice to see if i have really understood the topics. Is it possible to make them available soon as i have exams in December.

EditorNovember 29th, 2009 at 7:40 am

Hi steph, I just made an video for interest rate swap: http://minute-class.com/finance/interest-rate-swap-concepts-and-exercise-cfa-video/

And you can find currency swap in our previous video: http://minute-class.com/finance/currency-swap-concepts-and-example-cfa-video/

CollinNovember 29th, 2009 at 3:29 pm

Will this type of question appear? LOS doesn’t seems to want us to calculate, not sure if I would want to spend the remaining week to learn new stuff. Thanks!

BPI issued a 5 year, 4% coupon, $100,000 par value bond with 2000 attached warrants. Each warrant had a $5 market value at issuance and is convertible to an exercise price of $17 into 1 BPI common share ($10 par value). At the time the warrants were exercised, the market value of a common share was $ 24. Which if the following statements is accurate with respect to the accounting for these bonds at the time of exercise?

A. Bond discount is debited $10,000 B. Common Stock is credited $10,000 C. Additional paid in capital is credited $48,000.

Ans: A

EditorNovember 30th, 2009 at 6:41 am

Hi Collin, it is still possible that they may ask similar question in the exam though the chance is low. But I would suggest you spending time on other topics with higher chances to appear. After all, this question won’t affect your score too much and you main goal, again, is to pass not to score 100%.

Back to this question, when a bond is issued with warrant, some values have to be attributed to the warrants. It is GIVEN in this question that each warrant worths $5, so $5*2000=$10k should be attributed to warrants and “bond discount” should be debited with $10k. The closest answer is A. But I think when it is exercised, it should be credited instead of debited. Not sure! Anyone has other suggestions?

IraNovember 30th, 2009 at 6:14 pm

I am struggling with test statistics. What is the difference between z statistics and t statistics? How is z statistics different from z score? How are z and t statistics calculated?

EditorDecember 1st, 2009 at 7:18 am

Hi Ira, t-statistics is used when the population standard deviation is uncertained. When the size is large, t-statistics approaches z statistics. It will be pretty lengthy to answer your other questions. Sorry we are currently busy in helping our paid customers. We will try to write articles on this when we have more time. Thanks!

KyleDecember 2nd, 2009 at 6:14 pm

I just wanted to say thanks again for all these lessons. They have been very helpful!

EditorDecember 4th, 2009 at 8:06 am

stephDecember 17th, 2009 at 8:17 pm

stephDecember 17th, 2009 at 8:15 pm Thank you so much for this video, it really made this concept a whole lot easier. In essence, it is saying that for the interest rate swap, it’s usually the same amount being borrowed in the same currency, all you have to decide which rate to use for the fixed rate payer- well you aloways use the rate at the beginning of the contract and for libor you use the rate prior the period you want.Floating rate minus the fixed, if possitive, you owe the fixed payer and vise versa.

For the currency rate however, you exchange the currencies and also decide which rate to use for the fixed rate payer and libor rate, and you exchange the pincipals at the end.

What i want to find out though, whether we use the same formular for 6mnths payment instead of yearly payments.

Thanks

generic cialis online Unequivalent to generic drugs, a large part of the costs incurred alongside primeval manufacturers of brand prestige drugs are pro inquiry and evolution and advertising. The expense of obtaining FDA agreement alone in the U.S. is enormous. Manufacturers of generic drugs do not be dressed to absorb or be on the mend these costs. As a result, significant cost savings can be passed along to you. generic cialis online usa
